It always feels good to be recognized, especially when we've been hard at work here at the Hive, trying to revamp and redesign an even better meebee.com (more on that coming soon!). So it felt good when we heard that meebee.com was "selected as one of this year's Red Herring 100 Europe finalists." Red Herring noted they "screened hundreds of companies for the award so your achievement is no small feat." Moreover, "The Red Herring editorial team selected the most innovative companies from a pool of hundreds from across Europe. The nominees are evaluated on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technology innovation, quality of management, execution of strategy, and integration into their respective industries."

Venmo allows people to send money via a mobile platform, and has cool colorful shirts. At the Hive we're all about finding new ways to save time in each day and thought we'd share some cool stats about saving time. Feel free to add any cool stats you've heard in the past about saving/ wasting time! And don't forget to use meebee.com to save time and make life easy! Enjoy.

-On an average day, there are 17 million meetings in America.

-The average person uses 13 different methods to control and manage their time.

-1 hour of planning will save 10 hours of doing.

With only a few weeks into April, meebee has been creating a lot of buzz within the web world. It has been a non-stop rollercoaster ride since the end of SXSW in Austin. In less than a month we rocked the crowd at Innovate! 2010, Berlin and got accepted into the prestigious Red Herring event.

iPad: Environmentally Friendly and with Flash!

Ok, it's over. After a massive revealing, months of hype and a pushed-back launch date, Apple's iPad has finally launched. It seems the reviews are hit and miss: it's too heavy, can't multi-task and other technological glitches such as having no Flash capabilities. Really? Not so. meebee's CEO took on Steve Jobs for the second time (click here to see the first) to prove that the iPad does in fact have Flash (poof!). Plus, it's environmentally friendly? Due to a flurry of complaints, parody videos and proposed boycotts of the soon to be released iPad, Steve Jobs and the Apple Corporation have decided to make some major changes to the highly publicized product before its April 3rd launch – the first being the addition of Flash.

According to a private source, the leak came from a Best Buy sales rep late Wednesday night. “I can’t say I’m surprised, it was ludicrous of Apple to expect the product to do well considering their serious lack in product features and relatively high cost” said David Strazner, a web developer out of Silicon Valley. It is a smart move on Apple’s part considering the amount of criticism they have received for the iPads inability to support flash in addition to a laundry list of other "should be standard" features for the $500 oversized iTouch. Analyst's are curious if this last minute stunt will be enough to win over the less than impressed iPad critics. There has yet to be an official statement made by Jobs and Apple at the moment but it is expected to come later in the day. See YouTube's response...

It's official, meebee will be buzzing around the highly anticipated 2010 SXSW event in Austin, Texas. With an estimated 60,000 attendees from all over the globe, the event should prove to be a wild ride filled with film stars, rock stars and computer stars alike. It's going to be our first year in attendance so we have a lot of things on our to-do list. Here's just a few:

So you've arranged your SXSW schedule down to a tee and refuse to miss a single event, good for you! The Art of Multi-Tasking

Whether you're a frantic college student trying to find time to cram in a last minute paper, a busy exec. who needs to complete a never ending array of reports or a mom who has to go to work, drop your kids off at school, pick your kids up from school and prepare a delicious dinner all by 5pm, the fact of the matter is everyone could you some extra help with multi-tasking and saving time throughout their day. Here at meebee.com, we realize that each day moves by extremely fast and can often leave to added stress and incomplete goals. That being said, it's important to stay organized and take any help you can get. meebee.com can be used in many different ways for many different professions. Believe it or not, that isn’t a type-o in our title. According to a recent report created by the CTIA, 740 Billion text messages were sent in the first half of 2009. This works out to over 4 billion text messages being sent each day! You can argue that people should stop texting and pick up a phone instead but this can be just as time consuming, if not worse. Also, if you’re anything like us and have friends all over the globe then it can get quite expensive. With these exorbitant numbers you have to question how this has become the preferred method of communication. It’s obviously not to due to saving time – 4 Billion texts daily comes with the hefty price tag of your valuable time each day. So what do we do? If you think we’re going to suggest using meebee…then you’re right. Here at meebee, we’re always thinking of new ways to manage your time effectively and make life easier, which recently sparked the debate at the hive – Does Facebook save time or waste it?

According to Facebook.com, there are currently more than 350 million people that actively use the site, 35 million users update their Facebook status daily and the average member spends at least 55 minutes a day on the site writing posts, checking e-mails, poking, etc.! The site has definitely helped connect people in more ways than one; however, with the time it takes to write an e-mail, create an event/meeting and write on your buddies wall, you would think that there’s a more efficient way of staying connected and saving time.

Let me ask you this: Do you find yourself thinking about Facebook while at work, school, sporting events, on a date etc..? If you write a post on someone’s wall... do you over analyze it and then think about the different reasons why they haven’t responded? Are you constantly trying to think of something clever and witty to say on your status during your free time?! Do your greatest fears include being de-friended, or god forbid, not having anyone write happy birthday on your wall?! Don’t worry you’re not alone.

Yo meebee!
Hows it going there in meebee land ? Anyways here's my story.

As Thanksgiving is coming up this week and the smell of turkey is brewing, I was busy arranging to go back home to Oklahoma to see the folks on Thursday for Thanksgiving. I cant wait to stuff myself with Turkey, mash, gravy, & cranberries. But obviously while there, I'm going to catchup with a few of my old friends, watch plenty of football, and drinks gallons of beer! So I thought I'd try out meebee.

I didn't have time at work to call around my old friends back home, so I sent a bunch of them a meebee invite to meetup. It only took me a few minutes, I guess the same amount of time as it would've taken me to call just one of them, so that saved me a lot of time. Some came back asking me WTF it was, but most clicked the smiley mark and so I've pretty much filled up my weekend catching up with most of my old friends, even a chick I used to date :-)
What I loved about meebee most was just that - it saved me heaps of time, and I was surprised just how dead easy it was. Definitely gonna arrange more of my meetups this way over meebee.
But I didn't quite get the bee-mail at first, I thought it was an email system, but really its just my inbox & outbox of all the meetups I've arranged, so that's all cool now.

Friday 13th & 2012, what a combination !

Because meebee is all about saving TIME, the meebee team went to see the film premier "2012". What would you do if you had only 3 years left to live?

Awesome trailer, dissapointing film. (Unless you love the typical action films or Independance day). It lacked Emotion & Intellect, and even a good ending. Too simple, too predictable.
More importantly, the film didnt even mention the Mayan calendar facts, nor the prophets, and only touched on the Galactic alignment, so pretty low on intellectual stimulation & support for the whole 2012 predictions.

But the underlying theme is that in our lives, somehow TIME just slips by ... until its too late.
Afterall, eitherway we are ALL going to die one day, we just dont know when.
There's no point freaking out about it, but there is meaning in using the TIME we have left on earth to "LIVE" the life we really want before our time comes.

If you knew you had X amount of time left to live, would this help you live your life the way you always wanted to? The only problem is we dont know that, yet we waste so much time on unimportant things coz it feels like we have infinite time. What would you do if you had only 3 years left ? Meetup with all your great friends & family?

I thought I'd share a few common SITUATIONS we ALL have, and where meebee will help save YOU TIME.

1) NO TIME FOR PHONE TAGGING OR CALLING ?:

We've all been in the situation where you're multi-tasking, busy as hell, and no time to "call" the person or people that you want to meetup with, whether that be business or pleasure.
You'll probably interupt them anyway, or they wont have their calendar in front of them to check, so it'll only lead to more calling. This could be many minutes & even take days to lock in.
Aargh! Phone tagging!

Perfect situation where meebee will help save you heaps of time ! And TIME 'is' MONEY.
In less than a minute you're done! No need for phone tagging or even calling when you cant !

2) SICK OF EMAILING BACK & FORTH ?:

Everyone uses email, and sure, there will always be situations where I'd recommend just emailing the person or people. Ie. DONT use meebee :) Yep thats right, I'm advising you not to use meebee for certain situations. Ex. Those that you know from experience will usually accept your first offer of a day/time/place to meetup with minimum fuss. But even with close friends its hard to arrange a time & place to meetup.

Most of the time, both sides exchange a number of emails trying to decide on a time & place that works best for both. Dating the same. I know one guy who was trying to hookup a date with a girl for over 3 months coz either the day/time was OK but not the place, or viceversa. Crazy! Poor bugger.

meebee saves both sides time so you can spend your time on more important stuff in life than just 'arranging' the meetup, even having more time to spend in the meetup or date as well!

Hi all newbies, here's a Quick GET STARTED guide for First Time Users, to help you get cracking making meetings & dates in less than 20 seconds ! :)

(STEP 1) Type in your friends email address (5s)

(STEP 3) Type a MESSAGE to your friend & SUBMIT (4s)

DONE !

Now your friend get's your message to their email & just clicks on the link below your message. (Your friend does NOT have to be a meebee user).
They then just click on the SMILEY mark to ACCEPT your meeting, or the SAD mark to DENY.

OK, so for a first time user, take your time, 1min or 3min, whatever. It still beats phone-tagging, emails back & forth, etc to set up a time/place to meetup! Enjoy :)

Here's our User Story of the Month:
BEER MATES - from Mike, Sydney

G'day meebee,

I started using meebee through a friend of mine John who invited me to meet up one day through meebee. At first. I didnt know what to do with the meeting invitation (beemail) but it looked interesting & easy to use, so I signed up in a few secs & started using it.

Anyway, I use meebee to catch up with mates for a beer & sometimes for dating too. I find it much easier to use than emailing back and forth & trying to decide when & where to meet etc. I got really sick of all this back & forth emailing that wasted soo much of my time. Its pretty easy to organise a meeting with someone & I get to choose the time & place, then I just let meebee organise it all, without me having to actually arrange the meeting itself. I must admit I do like the fact that you can message your friends who you are seeing, inside the beemail.

The only real problem I had, was at first with the beemails I was receiving. I didnt really know what to do at all. How to confirm, change any meeting details or even cancel the meeting. But i eventually figured it out. Once you know what the icons mean, its actually quite helpful. Also I guess it takes some time to get use to, I remember I hated facebook & match.com at first, as I didnt know what to do either!! Sometimes Im a bit lost in my beemails, & im not exactly sure or remember If I have confirmed a meeting or not. It doesnt directly tell me , but im sure this part will be smoothed over soon.

I really do like that all my contacts & my social life can be managed from meebee. Its tough work keeping a track of your social life & meebee really helps. I used Google Cal to keep track of my social life, but I couldnt arrange anything through it. Are you going to bring out a sync to Google Cal, as that will really help me out even more.

I know that meebee is still very new, and sometimes there are errors, but overall meebee works really well and saves me a lot of hassle in my busy social Life.

Its great to be finally out of the hive & buzzing around!

We're in Beeta for a reason. Main reason is coz I really want YOU, our users, to have an AWESOME USER EXPERIENCE, we want to listen to YOU, improve it, and perfect it! :) Simple as that :) We have a long way to go, but this is the start.

Making UI improvements, weeding out any bugs, adding more features, as we have many on the drawing-board, and more importantly, continually improving meebee based on YOUR feedback!
We may even take VOTES from you all on stuff. We're doing it internally so why not with all our users as well and have a bit of fun. We'll open this blog to the public so anyone can post comments from November so looking fwd.

I'm the biggest critic, so don't be shy in piling on the critisisms .. as well as compliments. Whatever it is, as long as it's the truth, we wanna hear from you ! :)

So as I promised, here's our User Story of the Month:

BOWLING NIGHT - from Jana, London:

Hi meebee, here's my story.
I finally got together with friends who are always busy working and we enjoyed a lovely night bowling. It was usually hard to arrange a time & place to meetup but this time it was much easier, so thanks.

As for my feedback, I found meebee easy to signup, then I imported my friends contacts from my Gmail and quickly organised them all into different Groups like School friends, work friends, aerobics class, and so on. That was quite fun actually. So now when I make meetings with friends it's really quick and actually more fun too.

The only thing I didn't like about it was in Step 3, I thought I had to do more but then I realised it was just a matter of clicking the SUBMIT button. So I felt really silly, but that's maybe because I'm new to it. Or maybe because I'm blonde ?? :)

It also took me a while to figure out Beemail. I'm getting used to it now, but I guess like with everything new, it takes getting used to the first time.

Im already arranging another GNO (Girls Night Out) on meebee next week. Cant wait!

PS: I love the bee ! So cute !

We finally LAUNCHED our "BEETA" today ! Thnx for all your support to help us get here at TechCrunch50 ! The premier event in web 2.0 world where the World's Best Web Startups are selected to take part. So we're very proud to be here.

We were only a bee's tail away from winning the People's Choice award, so that's really frustrating to come sooo close, yet really happy to know people loved meebee.

We even got the coveted Golden Chip from Web Greats such as Jason Calacanis, Microsoft's Don Dodge, and others. Even famous rapper Chamillionaire visited our booth, and along with TC50's celebrity CEO Michael Arrington, both got a signed VIP "pre-release" copy of my new book coming out soon. The book is all about saving your time, just like meebee does. Create more time to live more cool life experiences!

This is my goal for meebee, to save you heaps of time in "arranging" your meetings & dates, (which we all dread), so you have more time "enjoying" your meetups & dates !

Anyway, we're on a long journey and today was the first step out of the beehive and into the public eye :)

It's actually also coincidentally "World Bee Day" today ! Sooo what better day to start our private blog than today huh! Some of you know we've been shooting raw video footage of life in this startup from the beginning exactly 1 year ago, but this wont be shown to the world as a documentary for a few years, but I will open this blog up to the public soon.
